Overview

Marc Mansuy works as a research staff for the Maritime Technology Division at Ghent University, Belgium. He graduated in 2014 with a Master of Science from ISAE-Supméca, a French mechanical engineering school and received additional ship technology background at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology as an exchange student. In 2012, he started working on projects related to ship hydrodynamics at Sintef in Norway. In 2014, he became a researcher at Flanders Hydraulics Research in Antwerp (Belgium). Since 2016, he holds the current position of research staff at the Maritime Technology division of Ghent University (Belgium). He has been involved over the past years in several studies dealing with inland waterways in France and Belgium (Nord-Pas-de-Calais waterways network, River Seine, Flemish waterways, Walloon waterways...). These studies consisted of identifying bottlenecks and how to tackle them using ship manoeuvring simulators (including navigation under bridges, turning manoeuvres and ship meetings in narrow channels). He is associated with the Knowledge Centre Manoeuvring in Shallow and Confined Water and he is a member of PIANC WG 237.
