Overview

Prof. Evert Lataire is head of the Maritime Technology Division at Ghent University, Belgium. He graduated in 2004 at Delft University of Technology, in the Netherlands, with a Master of Science in Maritime Technology and obtained his PhD at Ghent University in 2014. The main part of his research focuses on the manoeuvring behaviour of ships in shallow and confined waters. This research is often based upon experimental model tests carried out in the towing tank of Flanders Hydraulics located in Antwerp and Ostend, Belgium. Since its founding, Prof. Lataire has been participating in the new towing tank and coastal and ocean basin in Ostend, Belgium. In recent years his division diversified and obtained knowledge of different other floating devices subject to waves and current such as seaweed cultivation in open sea and floating PV-panels in an offshore environment.
